Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you have a wonderful day whether you are eating until you pop, spending time with family, working, or just relaxing. Let us all celebrate and give thanks for all the wonderful blessings in our lives. I am truly grateful for my family and am humbled at all the blessings the Lord has seen fit to give me.

Blogger apologies.
I know I’ve been slacking a little in the blog arena lately, and for that I apologize. I’ve got some fun entries and pictures in the works, but I just haven’t gotten around to putting the last touches on them and publishing them. But the big boys are visiting Gama until Thanksgiving, so maybe I can find enough quiet this week to get them finished (I’m not sure what I’m going to do with only one little one at home). So stay tuned this week for something new.

Our lovely fall weather.
Fall will get here eventually, right? It’s a pretty typical southern california autumn right now. Did I mention the Santa Ana winds are blowing today and it is supposed to reach a high of 91 degrees at my house? Now, don’t get me wrong. I love the weather here. I am definately a warm weather girl – the sun, the beach, the warm breezes…who could ask for anything more heavenly? Cold and I don’t get along very well, much to my husband’s dismay. But, there is a time each year when I start to think it might be fun to wear a sweater and boots. Of course, by the time spring rolls around I will have been complaining for months about how cold I am and how I long for some warm spring days. But for now, I’m getting a little tired of the summer heat. It should be only a couple more weeks before the weather starts to cool down on a regular basis. Until then I’ll keep wearing my capris and flip-flops and wait patiently until I can put my boots on again.
It doesn’t look like this around most of SoCal, but this kind of weather would be a nice change of pace.

Little Levi has arrived!
Well if you haven’t heard yet through the grapevine, this morning Kimberly gave birth to our third son: Levi Archer. Mommy and baby are both doing well. Evan and Seth don’t quite know what to make of their little brother. They’re already fighting over him like a toy, poking and prodding, and trying to figure out how Levi works. Below are some photos from this morning. I’m sure Kimberly will fill you in on the details later.

Is today the day?
Well, today is my due date. I’m not suprised that the baby isn’t here yet since both the boys were late. But I have been having contractions since Monday night (and yes, by this time around I know the difference between ”real” ones and braxton-hicks) so I thought maybe this guy would come a little early. I guess not. This is reminding me a lot of Evan’s birth. Lots of contractions, just not close enough together yet to get this little guy out. We’ve been hoping and wishing and waiting…so everyone keep the good thoughts and vibes coming that this guy will make his debut soon.
Since we thought the baby was coming the boys went to grandma and papa’s house for awhile, but since nothing has actually happened yet we brought them home this afternoon. Grandma asked Evan if he thought there was a baby in my tummy. Evan responded, “I think mommy is teasing there is a baby in her tummy.” When asked why my tummy was big, he responded that he though I ate too much and it made my tummy big.
So other than apparently eating a basketball, we are doing OK over here. I’m keeping a little incognito right now, just trying to concentrate on getting this guy out. If you don’t hear from me, don’t take it personally. I’ll keep everyone updated and let you know as soon as we have some news to share.

The countdown is on.
At 39 1/2 weeks, the countdown is on. Of course, both the boys were late so I’m not counting on this one showing up anytime soon, but you never know. Given my passion about natural childbirth, I’m not getting anywhere near pitocin or an induction. One of my hypnobabies affirmations says that “babies are born on their birthdays, not when doctors decide.” I also add in for myself that they don’t come when mommies decide either. Although everyone makes their own birthing decisions depending on what works for them and their family, I am perfectly content to be patient.
So wish me luck as we countdown what will hopefully be the last few days of my pregnancy with this little one (but could actually be a couple more weeks). We’ll keep everyone posted when he decides to make his enterance.

Hypnobabies goes big time.
Some of you may have heard about a new show called “The Doctors” that will be airing locally weekdays on KCal 9 at 11am. It’s produced by Dr. Phil’s son, Jay McGraw, and features several of the doctors that Dr. Phil uses regularly on his TV show. Apparently it will address all sorts of medical topics. I don’t know how positive or negative the show will be, but they recently taped an episode about alternative birthing methods and a fellow Hypnobabies couple will be featured. It will be airing this Wed., Sept. 10.
For those of you that know me or have discussed birth with me, you know how passionate I am about drug-free births, hypnosis for childbirth, and the Hypnobabies program in particular. It has given me two incredible, pain-free, calm and relaxing births, with another just around the corner. I wish everyone could experience what I did. You can always check out the link to Hypnobabies on my blogroll, or read my birth stores in my pages section.
So hopefully they put Hypnobabies in a postive light on the show. But feel free to check the show out with me and see what they have to say. I’ve already got my TiVo set.

Our last summer beach day.
With the school year approaching and summer winding down, I decided to take the boys to the beach for one last beach day. It was an unusually cool summer this year with only a couple weeks of high temps in the upper 90’s or above. There were also a lot of overcast days and they all seemed to be on the days that we went to the beach. So even though it was plenty warm to go, we never got a good, sunny beach day, only lots of gray days. That didn’t really deter the boys though. They love the beach and playing in the sand.
On this trip we went to the beach with big waves, so Evan wasn’t very interested in spending much time in the water. But Seth kept wanting to go and play in the waves. Just as I would sit down, he would tell me he wanted to go by himself and off he would run. Of course, since he can’t swim I had to go charging after him since he kept geting knocked over. He would just keep walking deeper and deeper into the water with no fear. I was proud of him and terrified for him at the same time. So we held hands a lot and I helped him jump over the waves. He had a blast. Even when he was cold and shivering, he wanted to keep going back in. All in all, it was a great last beach day.

They love digging a big hole.

Baby celebration.
It’s been a pretty busy summer and I haven’t had much time to celebrate the impending arrival of our new little one. So some friends got together and took me to dinner at Macaroni Grill for a little baby shower. With this being my 3rd baby and another boy it certainly wasn’t necessary, but it was so sweet of them to still want to do something for me. I really appreciated it - and we had a great time and a yummy dinner. It’s a rare occasion for many of us to get to have a dinner out without kids. And I got such adorable gifts. I have some wonderfully kind and generous friends.
