Our newest little blessing, Levi Archer, arrived on Friday 9/19 at 8:48 am. He weighed in at 7 pounds and was 19 1/2 inches long. Once he finally decided to come he didn’t waste any time, arriving in about 4 1/2 hours. Thanks Hypnobabies for another wonderful birth.

For the complete birth story, you can go to http://jollypotato.com/pp/about-me-kimberly/levis-birth-story/ (which is also the link on the top right of the blog where all the birth stories are listed). We are having such a great time getting to know him and welcome him into our family. The boys love to play with him and want to hold him a lot. We are all doing well, and we can’t wait to introduce him to everyone.
Well if you haven’t heard yet through the grapevine, this morning Kimberly gave birth to our third son: Levi Archer. Mommy and baby are both doing well. Evan and Seth don’t quite know what to make of their little brother. They’re already fighting over him like a toy, poking and prodding, and trying to figure out how Levi works. Below are some photos from this morning. I’m sure Kimberly will fill you in on the details later.

Well, today is my due date. I’m not suprised that the baby isn’t here yet since both the boys were late. But I have been having contractions since Monday night (and yes, by this time around I know the difference between ”real” ones and braxton-hicks) so I thought maybe this guy would come a little early. I guess not. This is reminding me a lot of Evan’s birth. Lots of contractions, just not close enough together yet to get this little guy out. We’ve been hoping and wishing and waiting…so everyone keep the good thoughts and vibes coming that this guy will make his debut soon.
Since we thought the baby was coming the boys went to grandma and papa’s house for awhile, but since nothing has actually happened yet we brought them home this afternoon. Grandma asked Evan if he thought there was a baby in my tummy. Evan responded, “I think mommy is teasing there is a baby in her tummy.” When asked why my tummy was big, he responded that he though I ate too much and it made my tummy big.
So other than apparently eating a basketball, we are doing OK over here. I’m keeping a little incognito right now, just trying to concentrate on getting this guy out. If you don’t hear from me, don’t take it personally. I’ll keep everyone updated and let you know as soon as we have some news to share.
At 39 1/2 weeks, the countdown is on. Of course, both the boys were late so I’m not counting on this one showing up anytime soon, but you never know. Given my passion about natural childbirth, I’m not getting anywhere near pitocin or an induction. One of my hypnobabies affirmations says that “babies are born on their birthdays, not when doctors decide.” I also add in for myself that they don’t come when mommies decide either. Although everyone makes their own birthing decisions depending on what works for them and their family, I am perfectly content to be patient.
So wish me luck as we countdown what will hopefully be the last few days of my pregnancy with this little one (but could actually be a couple more weeks). We’ll keep everyone posted when he decides to make his enterance.
Evan just started the fall semester of preschool. He was able to go for a couple weeks this summer and get used to the idea, but now he gets to go full time (well, MWF afternoons) for the whole school year. He just loves it, and is learning so many things. His favorite “job” is to be the weather helper. He gets to look outside and help the teacher put up the weather signs for the day. He also gets to dress Mr. Quackers, the weather duck. He has new stories to tell me everyday. They also get lunch at preschool, which is turning out to be good for me because he’s actually trying some new things and expanding his tastes a little. Who knew he would love egg salad sandwiches, which he says, “Actually, they are eggs and don’t have any salad in it.” I think we’re in for an exciting year.

Some of you may have heard about a new show called “The Doctors” that will be airing locally weekdays on KCal 9 at 11am. It’s produced by Dr. Phil’s son, Jay McGraw, and features several of the doctors that Dr. Phil uses regularly on his TV show. Apparently it will address all sorts of medical topics. I don’t know how positive or negative the show will be, but they recently taped an episode about alternative birthing methods and a fellow Hypnobabies couple will be featured. It will be airing this Wed., Sept. 10.
For those of you that know me or have discussed birth with me, you know how passionate I am about drug-free births, hypnosis for childbirth, and the Hypnobabies program in particular. It has given me two incredible, pain-free, calm and relaxing births, with another just around the corner. I wish everyone could experience what I did. You can always check out the link to Hypnobabies on my blogroll, or read my birth stores in my pages section.
So hopefully they put Hypnobabies in a postive light on the show. But feel free to check the show out with me and see what they have to say. I’ve already got my TiVo set.
Does your two year old know the names of prominant communist leaders? Mine does. I know, it sounds a little strange. I had to do a double take the other day to make sure I heard what I though I did.
I was cleaning up the kitchen and Seth was sitting on Jonny’s lap, yelling something and then laughing. I started to listen a little and quickly asked Jonny, “Did Seth just say Mao?” In fact, he did. Jonny has a funny shirt with a drawing of several communist leaders holding drinks and donning party hats (Jonny’s sense of humor is a little wacky sometimes). Seth was pointing to the pictures and reciting their names, “Stalin, Castro, Lenin, Mao, Marx.” Then he would start to laugh hysterically.
So, should I be worried that my little boy knows the names of these not so wonderful people? You can check out the link below to see the shirt.

We had grandma and papa over for dinner last night to celebrate grandma’s birthday. The boys loved making birthday cards for her, which they proudly showed off. I think their second favorite part was helping to blow out the candles (of course eating the cake was their favorite part). The boys just adore their grandma, and they are so lucky to live so close and be able to spend so much time with her. We all sure appreciate all she does for our family.

The boys show off the cards they made for Grandma.
