Evan is becoming so independent. He wants to do everything himself. He tells me all the time, “I want to do it,” or “I can do it myself.” But even though he’s starting to figure out he’s his own person, he still loves the attention he gets from Jonny and I (and of course, his grandparents). We were sitting on the park bench eating lunch last week and he turned to me and said, “Mommy, I’m so glad you’re here.” Those are the kinds of things that mealt your heart.
And although he loves to give his brother a hard time, he is a great helper. He loves to help his brother open presents and play with the toys. He likes to help his brother learn to “jump” (which is really just pushing him from behind, which usually knocks Seth over). But he also likes to help with things like bringing me my shoes or Seth’s shoes and diapers. We were standing in line at a store recently and he was talking to the woman behind us. When she asked if he had a puppy dog at home, he replied, “No, I have a Seth.” Despite all their horseplay, they adore each other.

A recent picture of Evan helping show his brother how to eat birthday cake.
It seems impossible to believe my little baby turned one last week. The year has flown by faster than I ever could have dreamed. Being able to be home with my kids is the best experience. It brings me more joy than I ever thought it would, and is more exhausting than I imagined. And being able to watch my boys grow up is so fun.
Seth is turning into such a little kid. He’s been walking for a few months now, but he just gets better at it all the time. Some days I think he’s practically running already. And he is definately my little mountain goat. He will climb anything he can – storage totes, chairs, boxes, slides, jungle gyms, strollers… He has no fear and will head straight towards whatever he wants. He’s happy and smiles all the time (well almost), just like his older brother. He wants to do everything himself (just like his older brother). He follows Evan around and tries to play with whatever Evan is playing with. (I think I see a pattern here).
He has truly been a blessing to our family and Jonny and I are so happy to have two little munchkins keeping us constantly busy.

“Wow, this sugar stuff sure is good.”

Our family had a great holiday. We enjoyed spending time with family and relaxing a little. But the new year forced us to return to reality. Jonny left on Jan. 3rd for a week to travel to Atlanta and Dallas. My sister Karen, being on winter break from both her job as a school teacher and her master’s classes at CSUSB, took pity on me and came to hang out and help me with the kids. We had a great time and it was nice to have some extra help around. So as a thank you, Evan and I decided to take her to the Aquarium of the Pacific. We have passes so we are able to take Evan pretty often. And he loves to go and show everyone all his favorite animals (like the seals, octopus, sting rays, nemo and dorry fish etc). So here is a pic of her with the kids at the aquarium.
